Jobber covers the week for many small service shops. Your dispatcher gets a calendar, the crew gets a mobile app, and customers can approve quotes online. Keep all of that when it fits.

Some shops hit one rule that Jobber cannot carry. QuickBooks Desktop is a common example. A customer-specific price or a local overtime rule can cause the same snag. We build that Missing Piece and wire it into the tools you already use.

What Jobber does well

Scheduling, quoting, invoicing, and a customer portal sit in one product that works from the day you sign up. The Connect plan at the 5-user bracket gives a small crew a dispatch calendar, reminders, and online payments.

Five years on Connect for a 3-4 person crew runs to roughly $8,400 at the renewal rate. That buys a maintained mobile app and vendor support. Most service businesses should keep Jobber when those tools cover the work.

The product also carries the ordinary changes that come with phones, browsers, and payment services. Your subscription pays Jobber to deal with that upkeep across its whole customer base. An added workflow should leave those jobs with the vendor.

Where one missing rule appears

QuickBooks Desktop. Jobber connects to QuickBooks Online and Xero. A shop can have sound reasons to keep the desktop edition. Its chart of accounts works, and the bookkeeper knows it.

QuickBooks Desktop talks over its own Web Connector protocol, not a REST API, so the connection needs two hard rules: refuse a second invoice when the job already has a QuickBooks transaction, and check the total against QuickBooks’ returned number to the cent before the sync counts as done. Other rules can sit in the same narrow gap. One shop may need customer-specific labour rates and markups. Another may need overtime text on the work order a customer signs. We scope one workflow around that rule while Jobber keeps doing its normal job.

The connection route matters. We confirm what Jobber can send or receive before we price the work. Your staff then provide real examples of the rule, including the awkward cases that used to need a manual correction.

Seat costs. Jobber adds roughly $29/month for every user past a plan bracket. Put 20 technicians on the Connect plan’s 15-user bracket plus 5 extra seats and the bill reaches about $355/month in year one. It rises to around $444/month after renewal. Five years lands in the mid-$20,000s.

That bill deserves a review. It does not force a rebuild. Count the work Jobber already saves, then price the missing rule on its own.
